castalian visions the art of erik heyninck
preface
updated: 2nd of June 2008

Welcome to Castalian Visions. Please allow me to introduce myself: my name is Erik Heyninck, and I am the creator of these works and your host. Which is why you'll get the very personal "I" instead of that far too distant "he, him, his". After all, this is my site, I created it, and you are the honoured guests in my private online Museum.

The main part of the site is and will always be the paintings, drawings and etchings you find under "Traditional Media" on the left-hand side. As an extra to these, I also show sketches and preparatory drawings, a selection of photographs, photomanipulations and digital art.

Apart from lots of comments on the works, there is a section on the technical aspect of traditional and digital techniques etc etc...
Furthermore there is the Captain's Log, a kind of blog in which dreams, plans, ideas, musings and information from behind the scenes is shared. In short: lots to see, and lots to read. And finally I have started a Museum shop in which a selection of high-quality prints and etchings will be made available.

Of course, there is still a lot of work to do. But that is what makes the site so fascinating for me.
Starting with the works in traditional media and adding other content later on as time allows seems to be the best decision to me. My main activity was, is and will always be the creation of new works, so the time I can spend here is limited.

The pages on works in traditional media alone add already up to several hundred, so it's easy to see that this site requires a lot of time. Which is why it is best to see it as an art-project, and not as a finished work. Many pages still suffer from a temporary lay-out. They will get their final appearances later, much later, as I prefer to put my time and energy in creating content, and, thanks to css, I can now easily change a bit here and there whenever I feel like doing so. I wish I had that option on my drawings and paintings also!

I hope you will enjoy your visit, and that one way or another, my works may have a positive impact on your life.

Thank you for your time, have a pleasant stay and don't forget to come back regularly as updates will be made at least once a month!
